Account admins and program admins
The customer_id can only be updated via a CSV file upload using signalvine_id to update the customer_id field. While the signalvine_id can be found in each contact's profile, we recommend beginning with a data export to easily gather all contact information into one file.

Creating the file
If starting from an export, delete any contacts in the file that don't need to be updated. For the remaining contacts, update the values in the customer_id column to the new customer_id. Once all of the customer_id values are updated, delete the other unnecessary columns: the only fields required for updating customer_id are signalvine_id and customer_id. Save your file as a CSV.
If creating the update file manually, add two columns: signalvine_id and customer_id. For each contact, enter their signalvine_id and their new customer_id in a new row. Save your file as a CSV.
Uploading the file
Start by clicking Import Contacts. Select the program at left, then click Import Contacts. Upload your CSV file, then uncheck the Import new contacts box, and check the Update existing contacts box.
A box will appear displaying the field headers in your file. Be sure to select customer_id, but if you included additional columns in your CSV update file, you can select those additional fields. Choose an error setting (the default option only runs the file if no errors are encountered; the first option runs the file regardless of errors, but gives detailed information on what rows were skipped and why).
Finally, click Start Import. Once the file runs, a summary will appear with the number of updated contacts and the number of errors.
Our CSV file has two columns: signalvine_id and customer_id.
After navigating to Import Contacts and selecting our CSV file, we'll uncheck the Import new contacts box, and check the Update existing contacts box. When the field list appears, we'll choose to update the customer_id field. We've selected to Only import the file if there are no errors. We'll click Start Import to upload the file and opt the contacts out.
